How to Backup a Virtual Server

Make sure that you have Trilead VM Explorer installed before you begin. This is what we will use to perform the backup and if needed a restore.

  1. Open HPE VM Explorer and navigate to the Datacenter tab.
  2. Right click on the desired server from the “Abraham” and “Moses” folders and select Backup.
  3. Click on Choose Parent and choose the correct folder on the external HDD.
  4. Click OK to start the backup (you may have to scroll down to see the “ok” button), leaving the rest of the setting default.
  5. The process will automatically start and appear in the “Tasks” tab. Repeat the process for the next server (the servers that are currently backing up will continue no matter how many backups you start).
  6. Once the backup is complete, update the VM Backup Locations Google Sheets file, recording the date and which external hard drive the VM was backed up to.

Upload the folder containing the backup from the external hard drive to the corresponding backup directory on Google Drive. Once complete, update the VM Backup Locations Google Sheets file, recording that the backup is now on Google Drive.
